Polyacrylamide(PAM), as an important organic polymer compound, is widely used in various fields such as water treatment, papermaking, and petroleum extraction.

1、 Product Features

Polyacrylamide is divided into anionic, cationic, and nonionic types, and appears as white powder or granules. It is soluble in water, but the dissolution rate is slow; Insoluble in most organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, etc., but soluble in a few polar organic solvents such as acetic acid, ethylene glycol, etc., but with limited solubility and requiring heating.

 

2、 Dissolve and Use

  • Water quality selection:
    Distilled water is an ideal dissolved water quality, and tap water can also be used.

 

  • Dissolving temperature:
    The suitable dissolution temperature is 50-60 ℃ to accelerate the dissolution rate. To avoid molecular chain breakage caused by high temperature and reduce the effectiveness of use.

 

  • Mixing conditions:
    Using low-speed blade mixing, such as anchor type, frame type, etc., the mixing speed is about 60 revolutions per minute. Avoid excessive shear force stirring to prevent molecular chain breakage.
    It is recommended to use piston pumps or diaphragm pumps during transportation, and avoid using high-speed centrifugal pumps.

 

  • Uniformly dispersed feeding:
    When feeding, it should be evenly dispersed to avoid the formation of insoluble particles. Mechanical vibrating screen mesh (with a mesh size of 10) can be used for feeding.
    After adding PAM, continue stirring for more than 30 minutes to ensure that it is fully dissolved.

 

  • Reaction with metal workpieces:
    PAM does not undergo chemical reactions with the surface of metal workpieces, but low molecular weight Anionic PAM adheres more firmly to the surface of steel plates.
    In water treatment processes with metal fine mesh filters and low-pressure centrifugal equipment, avoid adding Anionic PAM to prevent clogging.

 

  • Concentration control:
    It is ideal to control the concentration of Polyacrylamide at 1-3 ‰. Low concentration is ineffective, while high concentration prevents the molecular chains from fully extending or forming a gel like substance, reducing the effectiveness of use.

 

  • Usage time:
    Dissolved PAM should be used as soon as possible. Anionic PAM should generally not exceed 36 hours, while Cationic PAM should be used within 24 hours to prevent hydrolysis.

 

3、 Precautions

When using Polyacrylamide, please follow the product manual and safety operating procedures.
Avoid direct contact with the skin. In case of accidental contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
Avoid inhaling its dust for a long time, and wear a suitable protective mask during operation.
Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated place, away from sources of fire and heat.
