Polyacrylamide(PAM), as an important organic polymer compound, is widely used in many fields, such as water treatment, papermaking, and oil extraction. Yuxinhuan Chemical, as a professional manufacturer, provides high-quality Polyacrylamide products, and hereby provides the following guidance on the dissolution and use of Polyacrylamide to ensure that customers can give full play to its performance.

Polyacrylamide-PAM

First, product characteristics

Polyacrylamide is divided into anionic, cationic and non-ionic, white powder or granular. It is soluble in water, but the speed of dissolution is slow; insoluble in most organic solvents, such as methanol, ethanol, etc., but soluble in a few polar organic solvents, such as acetic acid, ethylene glycol, etc., but the solubility is limited and need to be heated.

Second, dissolution and use of

  • water quality selection:

distilled water is the ideal dissolution of water, tap water can also be used.

  • Dissolving temperature:

the appropriate dissolving temperature is 50-60 ℃, in order to accelerate the speed of dissolution. Avoid too high a temperature to break the molecular chain and reduce the effect of use.

  • Stirring conditions:

Adopt low-speed slurry blade stirring, such as anchor type, frame type, etc., and the stirring speed is about 60 rpm. Avoid too strong shear force mixing to prevent molecular chain breakage.

It is recommended to use piston pump or diaphragm pump when conveying, avoid using high-speed centrifugal pump.

  • Uniform dispersion feeding:

the feeding should be uniformly dispersed to avoid insoluble particles. Can use mechanical vibration sieve feeding (screen mesh 10 mesh).

Continue stirring for more than 30 minutes after adding PAM to ensure its full dissolution.

  • Reaction with metal workpiece:

PAM does not react chemically with the surface of metal workpiece, but low molecular weight Anionic PAM adheres more firmly on the surface of steel plate.

Avoid adding Anionic PAM to prevent clogging in water treatment processes with metal fine mesh filters and low pressure centrifugal equipment.

  • Concentration control:

Polyacrylamide concentration control in 1-3 ‰ is ideal. Concentration is too low ineffective, the concentration is too high, the molecular chain can not be fully extended or the formation of colloidal substances, reducing the effect of use.

  • Use time:

dissolved PAM should be used as soon as possible, anionic type is generally no more than 36 hours, cationic type should be used within 24 hours to prevent hydrolysis.

Third, precautions

  • in the use of polyacrylamide, please follow the product instructions and safe operating procedures.
  • Avoid direct contact with skin, if contacted inadvertently, please flush with plenty of water and consult a doctor immediately.
  • Avoid inhaling the dust for a long time, please wear a suitable protective mask when operating.
  • Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place, away from fire and heat sources.
